These facilities capable of storing 100,000 tons of liquid were designed to receive, store and dispatch vegetable oil. The tasks included the design of the pipelines and pump stations from the docking site to the storage site, totaling a longitude of 1,500m. Internal roadways, train tracks as well as the loading facilities for train pipe jumbos and truck pipes had to be designed.
The site is characterized by soils formed by two main alluvial stratum deposited by the meanders actions of the Rio Balsas. The younger one is highly unstable during seismic actions induced by a nearby geological fault which in the recent past has been responsible for some of the worse earthquakes the Mexican republic.
